Goldfinches
Welcome to Goldfinches!
We are the Reception class.
Our Class Teacher is Mrs Will and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Symington.
Play underpins the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
(See www.foundationyears.org.uk for more info.)
In Goldfinch class we have a balance of both adult led activities and child initiated learning. These sessions take place both indoor and outdoors.
In Goldfinch class we are explorers, adventurers, risk takers, problem solvers, artists and much, much more!
We are passionate about being outdoors and connecting children to their natural environment. We understand how important it is for our children to connect with the natural world, especially now, at a time when words such as: acorn, buttercup and kingfisher have been taken out of the oxford dictionary, only to be replaced by broadband, cut and paste and analogue.
Our planning is based around quality texts and wherever we can we link these to outdoor topics by investigating and learning all about British birds, trees, mini-beasts, planting, the changing seasons and British mammals getting outside to observe, sketch and record first hand as often as possible.
FOREST SCHOOL
Definitely one of our most popular sessions of the week.
Goldfinch class goes to forest school at least once a week, whatever the weather!
We believe that 'there is no such thing as bad weather just poor clothing!'
Nothing can stop us from getting out there and exploring.
We hunt for minibeasts, climb tyres, make dens, role-play, sing songs, use tools, build fires, climb trees, make concoctions in the mud kitchen, make elderflower cordial and much much more besides!
