World Book Day

7th March 2019

World Book Day

On Thursday 7th March, we celebrated World Book Day by welcoming author Kate Scott into our school for the day to work with each class.  The children loved her exciting oral story-telling workshop and eagerly played their part in her fun and engaging stories and poems.  Kate was very impressed with the children’s imagination and creativity.

We did many other interesting and fun activities, all based on a spy theme (inspired by Kate’s books ‘Spies in Disguise),

covering Maths – code breaking; English/Art – creating a secret agent and gadgets; Science – finger-printing and Drama – using spy scenarios to create dead-drops and riddles.

The children all dressed as a character from their favourite book, whilst the staff masqueraded as spies.

Later that evening many children returned to the school, dressed for bed, for ‘Books at Bedtime’, where they enjoyed three different stories with hot chocolate and biscuits.
